Cinderella: A Pretty Princess Panto!
Saturdays and Sundays June 5-27 at 2 PM
J oin Theater in the Open as we add another theatrical form to our repertoire with the panto-- storytelling, derived from ancient Italian improvisational shows and refined in 19th century Britain, which features song, dance, buffoonery, slap-stick, audience participation and promises a rollicking good time to young and old alike. How will our favorite heroine Cinderella fare in this zany upside down world? Theater in the Open promises a "happily ever after" to one and all.
Admission: $8 for adults, $5 for seniors/students, free for children age 3 and under. The June 5th show is free to all

Summer
Family Hour in the Open
Bring the kids, the dog, and the picnic blanket out to beautiful Maudslay State Park as Theater in the Open hosts an hour of family entertainment! On the third Saturday of each month we will be joined by many of our good friends in the community to present story-telling, song, dance, fairytale-theater and a fun group activity, all right here in the park and all entirely free! Come make a friend, sing a song, take in some sun and get to know your park better. For more information or to get involved please call 978-465-2572, and we'll see you in the open on June 19th!

The Bald Soprano

Rhinoceros director Stephen Haley re-visits absurdist master Eugene Ionesco in this often hilarious, sometimes disturbing, investigation of language and truth. We begin in a perfectly average English home where the Smiths are awaiting dinner guests. But from a clock chiming 17 to the ever increasing instances of the name Bobby Watson, dis-connect and dysfunction set in before the Martins even arrive.

Theater in the Open's
Summer Arts Workshop 2009
Theater in the Open offers theater and visual arts workshops for young people between the ages of 6 and 16. Our Summer Arts Workshop runs in three two-week sessions for young people ages 6 to 12. We also offer a six-week performance workshop culminating in a full scale production. For adolescents between the ages of 13 and 16 we are offering a four week production workshop.

Maudslay is Haunted

Theater in the Open's notorious annual haunting of Maudslay! Join a cast of all ages for a one-hour walk through eerie vignettes, spooky sketches and haunting scenes, all in the autumn grandeur of Maudslay State Park. Discover parts of the park you never knew existed. Bring the whole family for a variety of tricks and treats.
This is a family event intended for all ages.

Winter
A Collaboration with Exit Dance Theater and The Joppa Jazz Company
Our collaboration will bring an exciting Christmas adventure to the Firehouse Stage. Director Fontaine Dollas-Dubus will join Theater in the Open in creating a modern adaptation of a classic tale. Details to follow.
