A Production of Theater in the Open

Set in 1946, the story takes place in the studios of WBFR, Bedford Falls Radio, and gives a behind-the-scenes look at the production of It's a Wonderful Life - as a radio play...They had to do some first-hand research...visited the Marconi Museum in Bedford, N.H., where they spoke with people who knew how these shows were put together. They learned some of the tricks of the Foley artists - the sound effects people... The work of Theater in the Open's Foley artists will be as important to the stage show as they were for actual radio shows...Equally important will be musical interludes.. The script also has commercial breaks - this, afer all, is an AM radio station. [From Winter 'Wonderful' Land by J.C. Lockwood in Merrimack Valley Sunday, December 19, 1881]
